  • Get rid of all unwanted items.
  • Get rid of all flammables or make other arrangements to have them transported
  • Empty fuel from all lawn care items such as, movers, clippers, trimmers, etc.
  • Check all electrical good to ensure they will work at new location
  • Start making your change of address list and have all mail forwarded.
  • Arrange disconnection and reinstallation date for utilities, phone service, and other main suppliers.
  • If you have small children, have some of their cherished items to travel in the car with during the location change.
  • Start running down freezer stocks.
  • If your new home won’t be ready make arrangements for a temporary storage or location.
  • Arrange your finances. Transfer bank, savings, and all other financial accounts to new city.

Here’s a list of packing supplies that will come in handy for your move.

  • Plastic bags and labels for identifying
  • Foam peanuts or Styrofoam pellets also known as "popcorn"
  • Craft paper or tissue for delicate packing jobs.
  • Corrugated paper rolls for fragile items and figurines.
  • Markers and labels for identifying contents of each carton or box.
