Company History
General Moving Company, Inc. is an independent moving service provider, owned and operated by Sidney E. Montgomery who, at the time of the company’s founding in 1987, had two decades of moving industry experience. Located in Memphis, the company, which began as a modest business venture, has grown to become one of the premiere movers in the Mid-South thanks to the rapid, efficient service of its staff.
Our Capabilities
General Moving Company, Inc. has helped both individuals as well as large organizations. We maintain a fleet of 20 trucks and the necessary equipment to handle most any need. For the past two years we have averaged 185 long distance moves per year.
Some of our largest jobs have been for the U.S. Corp of Engineer and the State of Tennessee. On one occasion we successfully relocated a military office complex for 350 personnel. Over the course of the four days allotted for the project, we moved desks, file cabinets, computers/monitors, credenzas, files and four 1,200 lb. fire proof safes as well as a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse full of items.
